Mountain homes are cozy and casual. A retreat for bonfires and s’mores. A welcoming place to grab a cup of cocoa and a book and to sit and watch the snowfall. To come in from the slopes with kiddos in tow and spread out about the house to enjoy a lazy afternoon of games and movies. Great mountain homes are all of those things, but there’s no rule they can’t be stylish too.
I’m so excited to give you the full tour of this beautiful home tucked in the Blue Ridge Mountains. There is something about a mountain house that makes my stress melt away, and double win if it is style inspiration too! I’d previously partnered with the homeowners to offer staging tips and photograph their primary home for the real estate market, so when they decided to list their mountain house I was thrilled to get the call to grab my camera and head to the mountains for another photo shoot. Because if you saw their first home tour, you know there was no way this home would disappoint.
These two powerhouse sisters and their families spent the last several years renovating and decorating this 3-story house from top to bottom, and I love the sophisticated spin they brought to traditional mountain style. The home is at once stylish and relaxed. It boasts a modern kitchen and bathrooms, and is accentuated throughout with cozy layers of leather, cowhide, textured rugs, and heirloom pieces. The sisters designed the custom kitchen island, built from salvaged barn wood from Charlottesville, Virginia. And they painted and restyled old furniture pieces left by the previous homeowners. The end result is a home that embraces its purpose as a serene, cozy mountain retreat while still providing the polished luxuries of an upscale getaway.
In just a few weeks we head into peak autumn season here in Virginia, so if you are on the hunt for a mountain retreat of your own, this beautiful 3-story home just hit the market, and it’s being sold fully furnished!
You can hop in the car and head in about any direction for more spectacular mountain views. We drove by a way-stop where crews were setting up for a sunset wedding, and oh my land these views! This bride and groom sure picked a prime spot. (And you know I was tempted to stick around and crash this wedding, because BEAUTIFUL!) Congrats to the bride and groom.
I get the awesome pleasure to not only design, renovate, and stage sellers’ homes, but to also photograph homes for the MLS. If you’re looking for a real estate photographer in the Lynchburg, Virginia area – I’ve got my camera packed and I’d love to see your home!
